The way that’s worded makes it sound like it’s potentially not just this year that will be cancelled but maybe all new shows, like MACNA could be done forever depending on how some things play out behind the scenes.Just saw this post from MASNA's FB page cancelling MACNA 2024:

No…. MASNA (Marine Aquarium Society of North America) is the organization that puts on the show called MACNA (Marine Aquarium CONFERENCE of North America)Sucks as I was hoping to go as last in my area before 2015 as I recall.
Could it be fake considering twice they call themselves MASNA?

The part about how we share information now.
They’re calling out the internet and YouTube.
LOL
Unfortunately it’s looking that way for several reasons similar to last year and questions despite the planning team plan, the future of this eventJust saw this post from MASNA's FB page cancelling MACNA 2024:

Attendance is way down. Sales are in the toilet. Sad to see this happening but the hobby is in need of a serious reset.
Sales at shows are down. The hobby is doing better than ever. It's booming. If anything we are only seeing less new people enter as rising prices and stagnating wages conspire to make this a rich man's game only. But people actually buying livestock are buying more than ever.
Just... I wasn't going to buy anything alive at MACNA anyway. I would have to fly it home somehow. We have a yearly local frag swap that scratches that itch. You just need to live closer to a big city.
I agree that some businesses and high end collectors are buying right now. Inventory is up on a lot of livestock. Even wholesalers are having sales. I think they are banking on getting a good investment return.Sales at shows are down. The hobby is doing better than ever. It's booming. Perhaps The Greater Fool theory...I agree that some businesses and high end collectors are buying right now. Inventory is up on a lot of livestock. Even wholesalers are having sales. I think they are banking on getting a good investment return.
Time will tell for sure.Perhaps The Greater Fool theory...
