So im buying tickets and a hotel this week end for macne, Although my girlfreind brought up a good question and now i must ask you guys because i dont know what to do. When i go to macne how will i get the corals home. If when i leave sunday or monday there is no shipping sunday right, and they wont last all night in the hotel room if i stay till monday so what should i do?

Well if I still lived over by the airport I would say they could stay in my tank for the night. But I am now out in Deltona. Which is about 30-45 mins away from the airport. Well Orlando International that is. If you are flying in or out of Sanford then I am right down the street.

Nope, I'll be staying at the hotel macna is held in and flying in from orlando international thanks for the offer thought!

Can you pack them up like you are going to ship them and hold them over night? Now will the airlines let you put them on the plane or do you have to ship them?

Im not sure about that, the two ideas i had where. One buy a 10g and get extra water and put them in there for the night which is kinda risky if you ask me, second was try and fly home sunday and try and bring them home with me on the plane.

I dont think they allow liquids on a plane, I am not positive but think you'd be able to styrobox them and put them through check on luggage. You should call your airline and ask.

if you take them on your plane you have to book them and fly them as live cargo ,you arnt alowed to have them on deck with you.
also you can keep them in a small bucket with a heater and water movement over night no problem and pack them before you leave.

Some of the vendors can ship them for you as some will have to ship stuff back but I would talk to WWC since there local and ask could they ship them out on mon for you

I think i might just pack a heater and a maxi jet and ask WWC to bring a bucket so i can take it then get a bucket with water from him since thats where i plane on dropping some nice coin.

I was thinking about WWC but did not want to call them out and make them think they had to. They are the closest LFS to the airport. Maybe if you get ahold of Victor he might be willing to make some arrangements. I know he is a good guy. Can't hurt to ask all he can say is no and you are in the same boat you are right now.

I am driving and I could bring you a bucket! :D

Well that would be a big help, I'm over in NJ so im a little bit away and need to fly pluse im doing the hole disney thing with the GF thursday and saterday

Sure you can always find someone down here or someone you trust to hold them in their tank till you get home then have them ship them for you monday night. I would do it but I have never shipped anything so I would not trust myself. But I heard someone is driving down here. They might have room in their car to take a bucket back to their house and ship it the day you want it shipped. I heard that guy has a awesome tank and is very trustworthy.....lol

I think i might look into checking it in might save a little.

aren't you allowed to take liquid if the container is under a certain amount. Just get some urine specimen cups. Don't think they hold more then a couple ounces. They might let those be carry on.

you shouldn't have any issues checking the corals in you luggage. if they are bagged up correctly; you can get or bring a heat pack and pack them in your checked bag. May cost you $15 for a checked bag. Just use a styrofoam shipping box (find one that fits properly in you bag).

I do this all the time, as I travel alot for work, and there are a few cool stores i frequent while on my trips; i've yet to lose a coral.

I just checked some last week, no problems. I've kept corals alive for days in hotel rooms with circulation and a heater in a gallon of water or so. Helps if the vendor can give you extra water to "change" periodically.

I'm in the same boat. The difference is that I will be staying a few more days after MACNA. I was thinking of setting up a small tank and shipping them the night before traveling home. Its begining to feel like to much trouble. I have to buy a small tank, lights, bring heater and pump. I have to think about where to get some water. Than worry if the corals are going to make it the few extra days that I'm staying in Florida and than shipping them. I never shipped corals before.

forgot to add, that once you seal the styrofoam box, with heat pack, keep it closed to retain heat and this should last you 24hrs easy, can last longer if they or you can find a LFS to inject air or if not sps (as they tend to be most sensitive).
