Macro algae and sulfur reactor effluent

hey Randy. The effluent of my sulfur reactor exits into the chamber of my sump I wish to use as a refugium. I have tried cheato in the chamber on one occasion and it melted within just a couple days. Could/would the effluent be the reason? Thanks!

Could be not enough nitrate in the water. Otherwise, I can't see a reason for them to be related.
