Was wondering if anyone can tell me what this is called? I thought is was bubble algae at first but it grew very big and has sort of a golden color.

I'm not looking to get rid of it, I know a lot of people think that algaes are all ugly and want their tanks to be meticulously manicured but I like a diversity of things in my tank. Just trying to figure out what it's called.

Thanks!

No idea. Looks awesome, but how fast is it spreading?

Check out oyster thief algae (also known as colpomenia sinuosa) see if that matches

Thank you! Now after reading a bit based on you I.D. I think it's Colpomenia Peregrina. It's been known to grow on oysters and inflate with gas and float away with them hence the common name Oyster-thief and it is also called bulb seaweed.

It grows pretty fast but somewhat easy to remove if I need to (although I'm sure it would just come back lol. I just hated battling algae so I've learned to accept it and appreciate it for what it is. If whatever algae grows gets too close to something I'll just scrub it away. I know there are dozens of solutions to keep a tank algae free but none of those are fun for me so I've learned to enjoy it as another thing living in my tank.

What an awesome perspective!
