I added chaeto to my refugium several months ago and eventually it was out competed by this stuff. Much thicker and extremely dense. Pieces are not nearly as long as typical chaeto. Does this look like a different type of chaeto or is it a different macro algae?

I would send an email with a picture to the crew at WetWebMedia. They were able to identify an epiphytic algae growing on my seagrass.
I took your advice and sent an email to them. They responded very quickly. Thanks for the recommendation!

They stated they believe it is hair algae. I would have to respectfully disagree, but then again, I am not an expert with such things.
