hey guys,

im setting up a 60l tank and wanting to do a macro or softie tank. what is everyones thoughts?

pros and cons for each?

thanks!!!

The problem with macro tanks is first finding the cool macros in stock somewhere. Second macros need a good constant source of phosphate and ammonia/ nitrate, ammonia is actually better utilized by plants. Third is clean up crew you'll need to be selective on what critters you put in with the macros as a lot will also and probably first go after your macros. That being said both tanks would be nice a well set up macro tank looks as good as any softie tank I've seen. A softie tank will be easier. A nice macro tank can be as difficult as a sps dominant tank.

I'm always going to choose a soft coral tank, so much variety you can do with them!

thanks mate! im going to buy some live rock today to make a scape, the reason why i wanted a macro tank is because i am not a fan of blue light :) but Softies I can have a white heavy light anyway i guess

My softie (slowing becoming mixed) tank....only missing a yellow fiji leather (good luck getting one)....

Hey mate, why not have both? Only thing is, I don’t often see macro for sale at LFS’s in Aus. Depending on where you’re located you could always collect some under the pretext of doing a bit of luderick fishing.
