So i got an order from Algaebarn 2 days ago of Chaeto and Red ogo macro. Today i went and while looking, i saw that the ogo was completely white and the Chaeto was starting to turn white too.

What could cause this?

Too much light can be a problem; I've had red algae bleach if it was placed too high up in the tank, or when it was exposed to direct sunlight. Then again, I also bleached my algae when I haven't given it lighting with the proper light spectrum.

've also had chaeto bleach when it came in contact with residual amounts of Vibrant.

Contact @AlgaeBarn ASAP. It sounds like the macro didn’t survive shipping.

How long was it in transit for? Any chance it was exposed to high temps?

It was delivered on Wednesday 19. By Thursday it was already turning white but just a little bit and by Friday morning, the ogo was all white and some of the Chaeto was losing color. it just progressively got lighter and by Saturday it was all white. Chaeto has SOME color but i can see it changing. Not sure if it's dead or not? never had cheato before. But my other macro is fine. I'm in NJ and the day it got delivered was around 90-100° so yes i would say it was pretty hot

AB does its best to protect the products and has worked to improve its shipping process towards that end. Though, that is usually for the cold weather stuff. I'm not sure what they do for hot days. Either way, it's best to contact them and see what they can do for you. In the past, they've replaced the product for other customers. But you have to act quickly or they might not be able to help after a period.

Good luck! Also, please share your experience if you do contact them.

Hi there! It does sounds like your macroalgae stressed during shipping unfortunately. We are going to send you a pm to get your order information and get you taken care of!

unfortunately I have found that if macro is exposed to high temps in shipping it tends to melt a day or two later just like you are experiencing. It looks like Algaebarn is going to take care of you though

Yes we are! ;) You are right-when macroalgae is exposed to extreme temperatures it can stress it out pretty quickly!
