Hello! I was curious as to what you thought the best kind of macro was for a fuge? I currently have some Chaeto, and would like to add more macro...I am open to any kind--whatever you like the best/what works the best at removing nutrients. Also, can you recommend an online source you like ordering from? Thank you so much! :)

You could considered pom pom gracilaria and caulerpa prolifera if you like have variety. I have all three in a nano refugium.

I had noticed most of my chaeto has died off. This may be due to low nutrition in the tank, sufficient lighting in the refugium or low flow or combination there of. Both pom pom gracilaria and caulerpa doing good and growing.

Here's a shot of the nano hang-on refugium I just mentioned.

Did the chato start to go after you added the caulerpa?

Caulerpa were placed days earlier before I got chato. Your question made me thinking the reason it started to go. What's your thought?

I added a caulerpa and my chato died too. Mine was a taxifolia. With the fine hairy fronds so perhaps a Caulerpa sertularioides. And yes some calupas do excrete a substance to kill other plants. But I never nailed down the cause 100%.
this guy maybe what I had.

Ive had another caulerpa(big family) a serrulata or brachypus(??) for years and years w no problem, and lost most of that too.
