This brown macro looking thing recently starting growing out of nowhere. This is a macro only tank, so I guess it hitched a ride on something. Any ideas what it is? (The brown stalks in front of the dragon breathe. ) I guess i won't say no to free macro! Thanks

Caulerpa racemosa maybe?

It reminds me of the Zonaria farlowii I once had in my temperate marine aquarium, though I doubt OP’s algae is this species. Nonetheless, a neat find!

It does kind of resemble the zonaria... but im not convinced either.

Some of my macro was wild collected, so i suppose it could be anything. I might have to wait until it gets bigger to get a better idea. It seems to be growing well, whatever it is, and in several spots on top of that same rock.

Wow what a funny coincidence! It looks a lot like that except mine is growing vertical rather than horizontal. Im not sure if that matters. I'll look into this one more. Thanks!
