found a bunch of this lettuce in my refugium which is not the Chaeto I bought from algaebarn. It was taking over. Any idea what it is? I assume I should get rid of it?

thanks

My fish, like my children, will not touch their vegetables. I will see what they think about next time I see some, but I doubt it. all my fish are supposed to love nori and other good for you food, but they are just interested in McRods food blend. From the standpoint of nitrate and phosphate export, is Chaeto better than this stuff or should I just let this ulva grow?

I've been there, but at least anecdotally sea lettuce is the one thing I've never had an herbivore not devour voraciously (especially tangs and foxfaces)

Agree on ulva and makes great tang food, but easy care and growth in addition to nitrate control.

It's the sort of macroalage that once you have there's no real removing it. Once it's in your system it's 100% going to grow in your fuge. The reason reefers don't usually mind it is it rarely lasts long in a dt if it gets in. It really is herbivore catnip. Even a lot of common reef tank snails eat it giddily. It is not quite as good as chaeto for nutrient export but not bad. Its downfall really is Its deliciousness. Everybody eats it and puts those nutrients back in the water.
