I originally got him to take care of some bubble algae, but he hasn’t touched it!

Yes. I don’t want them eaten.
I don’t think any of my fish are, but my diamond goby tries to eat everything it seems.

They are pretty. Any herbivore fish would be a risk. I had a starry blenny who hate my macro. So I gave it to my LFS and tried again. I only keep carnivores fish in that tank.

It grows in a "plating" horizontal fashion. Some ppl consider it invasive, but it has pretty much remained here, just grows very fast - with an emerald crab. I use it for nutrient export as some would use chaeto, and harvest monthly. Here is a bagfull I took to the lfs for credit.
Try it, it's beautiful and useful!

I keep all different types of red macroalgae in my reef tank (they do better under blue light)
There's a chance that the emerald crab and lawn mower blenny might eat your macro (depending on the type you get) Your best best is some Mollies. Petco has a sale on them and you can drip acclimate them over 4-12 hours. Your macroalgae will get detritus and microalgae on them, eventually causing them to die. Mollies and the little red leg hermits are the only ones that could clean that up.
Also, Mexican turbo snails and urchins are a 100% no go. I've seen them go through macro like a lawnmower. Astraea Turbo are fine. Tangs and fox faces are also

I tried lyre tail Molly, but it ate my caulerpa, that had just stated growing. It was one of my home grown molly, from my fresh water aquarium, I had acclimated to my salt water macro. tank, because I had nuisance algae in it and I was hoping the molly would eat them. Well after a week, the molly went after my macro and devour them. I had to catch it and put it back i n fresh water. I would not use molly.
I agree with Astrea turbo snails. . I have them in the tank for a few month now and they do not touch the macro.

You can put any type of macroalgae in! You may have to adjust the light they do best with plant growth lights/refugium lighting and/or full spectrum. Here’s my tank home to an purple reef lobster and the list of macros I have…the green ones tend to get eaten more than red by tank critters so if you don’t want them to get eaten overtime avoid green macros.
