Well, my anemonie looks like it is starting to die. I bought it from The Coral Reef over 1 1/2 months ago, and it NEVER attached. The clowns and other fish started picking at the bottom, and it started turning white down there to. I called the LFS a few times and they said there was nothing they could do. When I bought it it wasn't attached either, so that means it was having problems when I bought it. I am realy upset because I spend $50 on something that was already hurt, and now it is withering away in my tank...

Anemones are notorious for dying if they aren't healthy at the time of purchase. Chalk it up to experience gained.

Not full of hope, but experience is sometimes a costly benefit from a poor decision or a decision made with enough facts. It will also not make you feel any better either. Ha!

Sorry about the anemone.

Buying an anemone can be tricky, because if it is firmly attached, some stores won't risk damage to remove them. From what I have read, if an anemone is not attached to something, it is likely looking for a more suitable place....hoping to drift to a better location. That said, if it's a sebae, I have had no luck with them either. I have been told that they MUST be fed, and if they are white, they are sick.

If your anemone doesn't seem willing to attach, you may want to use a rubber band to hold it to a small rock. I haven't tried it or heard of it, but it's worth a shot. Maybe it will attach and at least protect its foot from predators. You could also find a rock with a hole or recessed area so that it can sit in there, be rubber-banded down, but not pinched. They often like to attach their foot in a recessed area or crack, where predators can't get at it to remove them from the rock.
