Hey guys!

I hope you can help me with a problem I have been having with my acans. The first 2 weeks I had them they seemed to be triple their current size. They have been like this for about a month now.

tank size : 8g
water changes: once a week
salt: reef crystals
sal 1.024-1.025
water source: 0tds RODI

I think my other corals are thriving or at least they look like they are. I am seeing a lot of growth with my zoanthids. 6 new polyps in 2 weeks on one group.

I was thinking maybe coral war? However I think they are in relatively safe spots.

I did dose with seaklear phosphate remover about a month ago. That is the only thing I can think of that I am doing differently.

What do you guys think?

I find my acans to be like old ladies. Put them where they want or they pout until you move them. Mine are in low to medium light, with low indirect flow, and feedings every day. You're zoas look very nice and open and healthy. It may just be the placement.

here is one of mine after I moved them.

I had the same problem. Turns out my Foxface was nipping at my acans... :(

Mine did the same thing so I placed them in a lower light area and sure enough the puffed back up. Try it, its worth a shot.

I am not convinced it is water flow because all of them are shriveled. I have a hydor 240gph + the circulation pump.

I keep my water at about 77-78

For lights I have the nano 32W lights. The whites are only on for 4 hrs a day and are set to only hit 40%. Could it really be the lighting?

I like all of the ideas please keep them coming.

Do you think it could be caused by this algae bloom I am having? It came out at about the same time the acans shriveled up. It pretty much attached itself to everything in my tank including my snails. Take a look at my poor snail he must be so miserable. I have tried just about everything I can to fix it. My last resort is waiting them out and not doing a wc for a couple weeks. I am on week two and I can already tell it is really helping. Things are starting to clear up off the corals / rocks now.
