So I made the switch from the AI Sol to the Radion, and boy is there a crazy difference. I love the Sol due to its easy programmable controller. Changing the lighting schedule was no problem and took 2 mins maximum each time. The leds are bright, but to me, they do need another color in there such as uv or even red. The Radion covers the entire spectrum minus the UV. With enough adjustment, the reds and yellows in the tank pop and are rediculous looking. But then comes the programming. It sucks, period. We are a MAC family so just to change the lighting schedule I have to pull out my wife's old HP that barely works and attempt to program the light without the program freezing. If I were to choose again, I would still buy the Radion as Im sure there will be a Mac compatible program in the near future. The pricing is ungodly high, but then again what isn't overpriced.

Thanks for the review.

stiddley,

Didn't the MAC come with Boot Camp? You can boot to Windows from a Mac with it, so there isn't a need for the old HP.

Did you ever think of waiting for the new ai system our the sol upgrade for the additional colors?

Yes both mine and my wifes mac book come with bootcamp but the amount of memory and usage is crazy. The macs both run way hot when its up and going and it really is easier just to get the hp out. Ritter, the corals actually have taken a liking to it, especially my sps(ponape, blue tip, yellow, montipora setosa, sunset, various caps). The LPS also have almost doubled in size when the light is at its peak 20k at about 2pm...I felt like the AI just wasnt cutting it with just one and I only have a 37 gallon, but the radion's coverage is incredible. I may end up going with the new AI's over my next tank which is a 200 cube with 36" sides. The price is what will hold me back on radions for it. But that isn't going to be for about a year unfortunately since the wife is my banker haha:violin:
