Mag, Alk, Cal levels

I’m trying to figure out what people are running their Mag, Alk, and Cal levels out to see how mine compare.

I agree with this. I usually prefer my Mag to be one-tick up in the 1400's range.

Mag is the helicopter-mom of Calc and Alk playing nicely with one another

High mag does not do any harm. I would just stop dosing it until mag comes down to your desired level%

As tested today Alk 7.8, Ca 460, Mg 1560. My Mg has been high ever since I setup my tank and I have stopped worrying about it. I dose AF 3 part and prefer to do as AF recommend and dose all 3 parts equally. Tank is doing fine.

Any of these can be a range of values.

For Alk, most run about 8. The range seems to be 7 - 12. Going much below 7 flirts with a tank crash.

Calcium. The ranges I have seen are 400 - 480. When I dose, I top it off to 450. You don’t want to go much below 380.

Magnesium. Its main function is to increase the solubility of Ca and Alk. The values I have seen are 1200 - 1500. Most seem to run 1300 - 1400.
