Mag drive 7 for 75g?

Can I use a Mag Drive 7 for a 75g tank? Could I put a gate valve on it to restrict flow? This is for a temporary tank while we redo our floors and hopefully will be up for only a couple months.

Yes. I run a MagDrive 9.5 with a gate valve on my 105G tank to restrict flow.

Im going to use tubing as the return to the bulkhead. How far from your pump is your gate valve?

I use tubing also and it's about 3'.

About 18" before it goes into my u-tube return outlet. Idk if that's right or not but that's how mine is and I haven't had any issues in 2 yrs. so far.

Mine is hard plumbed but the gate valve is roughly 12" above the pump.
