Mag drive supreme vs Rio Plus

Has anyone had expereince with these two pumps? Is the mag drive significantly quieter? I'm trying to decide if its really worth replacing the rio plus.

Im already replacing my marine land with a mj1200. The MarineLand is horribly made creating lots of vibrations, thus noise.

Which specific models are you talking about? I have a mag7 that's very quiet, I also have a spare rio that hums a bit but it's a larger GPH model.

I have the Rio Plus 2400. And was wondering if it would be worth going to the mag5 or mag7. Do you know which Rio you have?

edit: I would have to move one of my sump walls to put a new powerhead in which is why Im asking. Dont want to do any unnecissary work.

I have the Rio 2500 and mag drive 7. I have had the Rio for at 15 years and is still quiet. The mag is fine if I can get it to sit right in sump. I also have a rio HF pump and that thing is a beast. It uses the same watts as the Rio 2500 with almost twice the flow.
If I was going to get another though I would look at the ehiem pumps

I have a mag 5 and it is quiet as long as you change propeller ever couple of years.

Thanks for the advice! Ill just save the money for that kind of upgrade then. Doesn't really make sense

I run a Rio 2100 on my 55 gallon reef, it's big, just barely squeezes in the Eshopps RS-75 return chamber, mine's been running silent for over a year now without any maintenance. I was ordering another for back up when I came across this thread and thought I should throw in my two cents. Rio makes good affordable pumps, they're work horses, if you keep up with the maintenance it should last several years, heard of a few running strong after ten years of non-stop use.
