my mag seems to be dropping at a ridiculous rate. I am using a salifert test kit and dosing mag with Seachem Reef advantage magnesium. I dosing per directions (granted, it could just be a low dose following the "beginners dosing" directions). My calc is staying fine but now my alk began to drop.
mag 1200 prior to dose then 1220 24hrs after dose
calc 450
alk 8.0 (was 9.1 week ago)
Ammonia zero
nitrite zero
nitrate zero
phosphate between 0 and 0.25 (API kit)
have 15 or so different corals of varying sizes and types. tank is 100 gal with 25gal sump. currently having minor GHA outbreak. Tank going on 10.5 months old. Possible salifert kit is bad? starting to see some rocks with nice coralina algae starting up. what would be typical s/s of to high mag?
