I have tried them and it is always the same result, micro scratches or worse. They are hardly noticeable at first, but looked at from the right angle after repeated use and you start to see them. It can't be the particular one I got as I have tried three different ones.

I have decided that my hands are getting wet and switched to simple cheap pads, and pads on a stick My tank is cleaner, in the 3-5 minutes a day I clean it, and it is MUCH more effective. I no longer have to do a "real" cleaning every two weeks to get all the stuff the mag float missed. In addition no big scratches like I would see with mag floats, regardless of how careful I was with them.

----------
Mag floats clean much better with the glass version on glass. The acrylic version is like using a broom to remove snow from a driveway, a broom that damages the driveway. (never saw a scratch with a glass version on glass tanks, and it cleans 100x better)
---------

Maybe they are good for huge aquariums with more than 3-4 feet of depth. Or for people who have ready access to aquarium companies who do interior tank, no drain scratch removal. Or don't mind micro scratches that build overtime since they plan to drain/polish or upgrade every 2-3 years anyway. But for me it just isn't a good product. Aside from keeping my hands dry it is extremely ineffective.

I'm afraid mag floats and such suck on acrylic. I only do them by hand, even on the large tanks. I agree the key is the clean your tank frequently instead of deep cleaning more infrequently. I use the white acrylic pads.

one more reason I won't go acrylic. I have enough problems keeping my glass tank scratch free.
