Mag Way to low

Need some HELP!!!! OK I had post that my frog spawn was dropping it heads and did test on tue water and this is were my peramitors were at
Phos. 0.25
Nitrate 0
Sg 1.025
The ones that were off was
PH 7.7
KH 125.3ppm or 7dkh
Mag. 1000
Cal ? My test kit was empty
NOW TODAY!
IN NORMAL RANGE
Sg 1.025
Cal 420 could come up a little yet
KH 214 ppm or 12 dkh
MAG ONLY AT 840
IM ADDING ( Daily Tech M magnesium )

Keep dosing. Raise it around 100ppm per day.

No unusual. We had several of our local club members years back have to add pounds to 55g tanks to raise 800ppm to 1350. Usually took a couple of tries but it did work with no side effects.

With your pH that low assuming it is accurate and just before lights out, I would think you need macro algaes to suck out the co2.

I use the BRS mag chloride and mag sulfate.

It takes a lot of solution to raise magnesium.

As others have stated, don't try to raise if all at once. I normally target 50 ppm twice a day.

Your Alk seems a bit high.

There is a formula something like 5 cups magnesium chloride to 2 or 3 cups epsom salts or something like that.

The idea is that just magnesium sulfate (epsom salts) raises sulfide too much.

But even with that people here and I initially used just epsom salts with no bad effects. But that was just the initial dose. Not continual maintenance.

Epsom salts is the cheapie drug store stuff.

Magnesium chloride is much harded to find locally. It is used as an ice melter like calcium chloride but much more expensive. Therefore hard to find. And it is used in landscaping to reduce dust. I finally found a local industrial chemical supplier that would sell 50 pound bags with no shipping.

Usually a few 20% water changes will get your mag up to where it needs to be. I would do at least one big water change and then see where you are at. Then start adding mag if needed.

FWIW before doing this I would check and adjust the new water to insure the correct mag levels. Or perhaps a little higher.

Good point. It definitely depends on what salt you are using.

Go with bulkreefsupply bulk mixes for the mag. Yes you will mix both ingredients to make a gal of mag solution that you will use to add to your tank.

Take a look at bulkreefsupply calculators. They are invaluable, makes it very easy to calculate how much you need to adjust and even the max that you should raise within 24 hours.

Check your water that you use for your water changes. I use reef crystals salt and find it is low on mag so I adjust before adding to tank before water change.

I did order the mag chloride from BRS so just wait for it to come I'm sure it will not get her till Mon or Tue
