Maggie's Mixed Reef Build V3, now a 75!

Almost done with the painting. Everything but the background. Kit called for a cream/white color but I want it darker, so thinking black or dark grey.

Turns out I used the wrong paint on the wall. Discovered this while the hubs was googling "why is the wall paint still tacky?" . I looked on the can and it said 'Exterior'. Uncle google said to prime and repaint with interior. So here we are.

Live and learn.

Bought the darkest on this card, it's called "Seafarer". Sounded like a good luck color to me! Ahoy!

Is it good? Never been there. I'm gluten free so I never get to eat if we go out, plus with a herd of feral children I've learned it's best to stay home and feed the rascals there.

Zero progress with the tank. It's ok though, plumbing parts won't be here until Friday.

I've been trying to decide on where I want holes drilled on the top plywood. We built the stand 24"deep, so it can be secured to the wall on the top and bottom frame and vertical supports. So there is a good amount of area behind the tank that's currently solid but I want several holes drilled, 2 by each overflow for the return plumbing to go over the back and into the overflow box and out the notched spots that were intended for the returns, 2 for 2.5" pipe I use for wiring (one for light wires and the other for pump wires) and I'm thinking maybe a 3rd 2.5" for any additional wires for the future? Oh plus the 4 needed under the tank for the drain plumbing.

Need to get to drillin'.

Then after I drill the holes I'll paint the top real quick to hopefully protect from any water spills when the front.

Probably tomorrow though, hubs left to buy a parts truck and he'll be gone all day. Took half the herd too so it'll be a quieter day.

measure 3x ,and make the holes 1/2" bigger than you need, make your return elbow ,going to come off back of tank inches depending on return pipe size ,and if you use street elbows, ball, union, ball, to make easy to remove in sections...;)

still faster than I was w/ my peninsula :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Meaning not directly touching tank? I planned on an inch distance from tank to return plumbing, is that sufficient or should increase? I have 3.5" of available room to drill with, because the the back horizontal 2x4.

Really ironic that my dad's first career was a plumber then he went to work for Boeing until retirement.

But I know nothing on plumbing and I'm too proud to ask. We don't really talk anymore.
