Basically I added a bunch of magnesium to this bucket (which should make it close to my tank's level). I mixed the water and heated it up last weekend. I never did a water change. So I set it aside and then this weekend opened the bucket to find it with a bunch of flakes. Is that from the magnesium? Is the water still fine to use?

Was it still mixing nonstop?? and or did you have a lid on the bucket? it could be a precipitate or if you had no lid some random debris

It only was mixing for a few hours then it was off for several days with the lid on.

Should be saltwater and the magnesium that was added a week before the photo.

Then it would probably be some calcium carbonate precipitate. :)

Would something like that still be fine to mix into the tank?

Thanks for the reply

Yes. Salt mixes get calcium carbonate precipitates all the time.
