Can I trust food grade magnesium chloride? I just bought 10 pounds for 24$.

I've been using MAG Flakes (an ice melt product) for ten years. I've got to believe a "food grade" version is a step up from what I'm using. I'd use it in a heart beat.

Well i bought it from an organic food store. Unfortunatley this magnesium smells like spices and has an oil slick on the flakes. Ive found 2 flakes have a brown color on them. Im not sire if this is suitable. It says food grade.

It's probably contaminated with food. :D

I left some out all day and night and it looks like its melting. Im not sure what the melting point is but theres like a liquid draining off. Does it melt at 30 C?
Maybe its just from humidity?

My Mg supplement will entirely dissolve if left out in our southern humidity.
I've always wondered if a bag of salt mix opened would suffer from the same thing - Mg part dissolving, liquefying and collecting at bottom to mess up the distribution in the bag.

Yes probably just humidy im guessing it absorbs water.

So an update. They sent me two new bags. I opened up one and it smelled like spices inside the plastic ziplock flap but not so much inside the bag. They said they weren't sure why it smelled like spices and the oily residiu was likely moisture.

Im curious that in the bag there is a few brown chips. Would that be bad?
