Here is another post about low magnesium. Alm the posts i see i cant seem to figure out why so many people are getting these readings. I thought it may just be the salt but when I don’t dk a wc in 2 weeks it plummeted 100ppm.

alk is 9.4 holding there dosing 2.2 Red sea
cal is 410 holding there dosing .3 red sea
Mag is 1250 but going down dosing 5 red sea.

It just doesn’t make sense and now im seeing snails dying as ive read it can be from magnesium.

Why does this hobby gotta be so difficult.

Ive used red sea and salifert. Both hit within 50
I honestly don't remember which brand of test (it was one of the two you mentioned, just not sure which) but I was getting 1100 when I tested, kept adding, testing, adding over a month without getting anywhere. I bought a new test and shazam if the old reagent must have been "old?" and the new reagent measured 1600.

I didn't add for many, many months any mg.

Get yourself a Aquaforest Mg test kit, it was the Redsea kit giving bad readings had the same issue a couple years ago fortunately enough I caught it early.
