We have a 100 gallon tank and our magnesium level is 1440. We keeps sps in the tank. Wondering what the recommended level should be.
Thanks.

1350 is the standard but lots of people have high mag. Be glad it's a little high and not low. What are the rest of your parameters

Our calcium is at 430 the kh is at 179 and both the nitrates and phosphates are at 0. The tank has been running for three years no problems till now.

Not sure what kh 179 is. But calcium is fine too. I'm not sure what the issue is. What kind of salt do you use. Is it because peramiters changed? How dose coral look? Maybe you different batch salt

Depends what MG test kit you use. I have used both RedSea and Salifert. Results for both are about 60 to 100ppm difference. RedSea results are always lower IME. If I test with Salifert, my target Mg level is between 1400 to 1450 which makes RedSea test results somewhere between 1300 to 1390. I have Mg level as high as 1500ppm testing with Salifert with no problem. I check my water twice to three times a week.

We use the Red Sea magnesium test kit. We just want to make sure with what it's at now is not going to hurt any of the corals. I'd reather have it a little high than have it low.
