What do people keep their magnesium levels at? Do you check this level even? If low do you dose to maintain it? Do you maintain it strictly by water changes?

I did a test tonight and my mg was at 1200 which is low so I have some Tech-M I used to start raising it. Just curious to what everyones thoughts were on this.

My kits so old I wouldn't even trust it.

Im hoping one of the first things the club does with some money is buy a Mg test kit and let the club use it, I hate to spend over $20 bucks on something that I only need to see once or twice a year.

Otherwise I shoot for around 1400, I do dose it regularly, not a fixed amount but a good shot here and there.

I use the DIY mix (Mag flake and Epsom)

of the three i test it least often; ALK weekly, Ca biweekly, Mg monthly
i generally split the recomended dose (per two part dosing instructions) up and dose weekly about 1/4 the monthly amount
i believe Mg flux is not as quick as the other two as it is large in proportion and small in consumption
one anecdotal observation i have made is that coraline growth seems to slow if Mg levels fall
before i had sps i never checked Mg and assumed that water changes with a good salt were sufficient

I usually test mag once a month and shoot to keep it around 1350-1400. I also use a 2 part mix of epsom salt and mag. chloride.

Test twice monthly, between 1300 and 1400ish. Bulkreef mix for any defecit and about once a month I need to add...
