I ran out of Magnesium and haven’t added any in a week but my level is still going up and down as usual on the apex trident tests. I was expecting it to slowly but surely drop over the week. Hmmmmmm

Up and down magnesium movement is test error, salinity changes, or both. I’d ignore it.
Hi Randy,
So it’s been well over a month now not dosing any magnesium in my 150 gallon mixed reef. My readings are still staying consistent at around1430. Any ideas?

Yes. Do nothing. Easy.

Is there something you are considering doing?

Magnesium demand is very low. Never more than 1/10th of the calcium demand, and it can be much lower than that. Coralline uses about 1/10th as much magnesium as calcium, but most corals use less, some much less. And alk demand is always very large relative to either magnesium or calcium demand.
