Magnesium tests

Okay, so I have 3 different Salifert Magnesium test kits...I tested my water with each test and came up with 3 different results. 1 test reads 1290, another read 1420, and the other 1470. I don't get it

As for the expiration dates for each test and the results of each test kit:

Test 1- expires 2017 (read 1290)
Test 2- expires 2018 ( read 1470)
Test 3- expiration date sticker ripped off (read 1420)

This is driving me nuts! What does everyone recommend for a good magnesium test? Digital?

I'm not sure why you see such differences, but it is not especially uncommon to have testing errors. I don't presently test magnesium (I know the methods I use keep it in a fine range) in my system, but in the past I have used the Salifert and Hach kits and thought they were OK.
