Magnesium

So I wasn't sure where to post this and I'm confused, I checked Mg last night it showed I was very low not sure what happened. 1120 I'm usually running around 1380-1390 this test was with a reef foundation pro. I usually check twice if numbers are weird and I did and they was the same. I added 600ml of two part mix and went to check this morning and it shows 1200 on the test, I go find my profi Mg test and try this one it shows 1410 so i do both test again and it's the same numbers. Since getting the red sea I haven't used profi and I wish I would have checked them against each other when I first got it but now I'm confused as to which one is closer to being acceptable, I know either way I'm in an ok zone but kinda low or kinda high. Should I go spend money on yet another test? My candy canes and 1 acan are unhappy at the moment. Mushrooms, devils hand, Duncans, Dendros, Zoas all seem happy.

You don't think 12 hours was long enough to get an accurate reading?

Personally I'd let it circulate 24 hrs - that's just my prefs

Mg powder has a knack of finding its way into your sandbed and slowly dissolving even if you think you have it thoroughly mixed in solution. +1 on waiting 24 hours.

Okay just over 24hrs now and checked with both test and I get to be the idiot of the day as my reef pro still reads 1120 but profi shows 1500 on the button I checked each one 3 times then I look and my pro is expired so I guess I need to pay a little more attention as now I guess I'm sitting and seeing what happens until it goes down. Time to order some new test kits. Can I hear a few replies on the preferred ones to use?

2 good outcomes - you found what test was correct & 1500 mag won't hurt anything but algae.

I like Red Sea’s alk, calcium and mag tests. It’s pretty easy to see the titration color change.

That's what I have always had on hand. Plus I have the aquaristik so its actually easy and fast.

I did like the color transfer better on the Red Sea.
