So I’ve done multiple tests on my saltwater tank for magnesium and every time my tank reached zero. I assumed it was a flaw in the test kit because I’ve been adding reef salt which should contain high amounts of magnesium. I purchased a new test and tested my water but it reached zero again, so I decided to take a cup of my saltwater from the tank and add the reef sand right to it. I let the salt dissolve and then tested again for magnesium AND IT TESTED ZERO AGAIN!! Does anyone have any information on any of this or should I take this problem to my LFS?
The salt I’m using is Coral Pro Salt by red sea

If you use all your reagent and nothing left mag is 1500+
the number in black is what you used the number in purple is what’s left in syringe

@michaelabellz i had an oh duh moment when I figured this out. The first time or two I tested I just scratched my head. Every time I went to the LFS my mag was high at home I thought it was 0. Than I watched them do the mag test and a light bulb went off in my head!

Thank you so much for helping, i did realize that my test is slightly different from yours in a way that you have to calculate how much of the reagent is left instead of how much was used. So now that I have that figured out I can start to fix the high magnesium in my tank and get back on track. Again, thank you for all your help it means a lot.

Please tell us the kit you're using, also watch some YouTube videos on that kit, see if that helps.
