Magnesiums got me defeated.. ughh help

How long after dosing kents should I test again?

You now have the attention of our #1 reef chemist @Randy Holmes-Farley so this is your chance to ask him these questions.

I dose 100ppm, then the following night I would test before giving the next dose of Mg. I dont think you need to wait 24 hours but I was out of convenience. Check with Randy here but im pretty sure dosing a lot of Mg will raise the salinity of your tank. Dont think your going to be dosing nearly the ammount I was but just something to keep in check and ask about. :)

Thanks for your help, I will keep this post updated. I will start dosing kents tonight. @Randy Holmes-Farley I feel it may be a bad Salifert test kit.Can you recommend good kit(s)/device(s) for testing not only Magnesium, but calcium and alkalinity?

As soon as it mixes in. 10 minutes in a sumpless system is plenty, longer if water goes through a long sump system. Think of it like dye mixing to a constant shade. :)

So I took my tank water to my coral farmer and had him test it, cal was 440 alkalinity was 8.6 and Magnesium was 1270..
