For many years I have been using Magnet Glass Cleaners on my tanks. They do a great job and are so immensely convenient.
Lately I've gotten lazy and left the magnet cleaners in my tank between usage. This was a grave mistake.
And now I have to pay for my laziness. Although I am VERY careful not to pick up any of the substrate whilst cleaning the glass, I discovered some significant scratches on the inside of my tank.
These scratches were NOT from gravel or sand that got trapped between the glass and the magnet. They were from the shells of organisms such as curly tube worms (and such) that started growing between the glass and the magnet while at rest.
So please do yourself a favor when using these wonderful devices....don't leave them in your tank between uses. Take them out, rinse them off with fresh water and dry them off between usage.
It will prevent you for saying some very naughty words!..;-)
