I am looking to buy some magnets for a DIY Frag Rack and to put on a breeder cup. The thickness omy aquarium (Red Sea Max 130) is 8 mm (5/16").
I have been looking at magnets4less.com and K&J Magnetics - Products. I am not sure what size magnets I need. I may start off with a frag rack made out of egg crate that is 9" x 6". Do I just go by the pull weight of the magnets to determine how strong a magnet I need? Does the thickness of my glass weaken the strength of the magnet? Does having the two magnets connected (one inside the tank and the other outside) increase the pull weight? Also, pull weight eqauls the weight the frag rack can support??? Thanks in advance.
For example:
Magnet 1/2" dia. x 1/4" thick - has a pull weight between 3.45 lbs and 5.57 lbs
- Does the pull weight increase with each magnet I add? So if I used 4 of these magnets (2 glued to the frag rack and two on the outside) would I have a pull weight between 13.8 lbs and 22.28 lbs?
