Magnet question

So if using rare earth magnets on the inside of your aquarium, not sealed in anything, will they leach anything 'bad' overtime?

I've always coated mine in super glue.

If they are just the magnets without any coating, just iron boron, then I would think they would rust.
If they are the coated, then the coating may have nickle and copper and eventually might leach.

I coated mine in casting resin or 2 part epoxy.

tonight I coated mine in 2 part epoxy that I use for gluing frags as I thinking the breakdown HAS DAMAGED MY CORALS

How about liquid plastic electrical insulation that tries to a soft ruberry consistency, or a simular product that is used to coat tool handles for a soft grip. I do not know if they are reef safe but you can control how thick it is, and they would be water tight.and sold at most good hardware stores and big box home improvement stores.

I would not trust anything that doesn't dry to a hard surface. If it is pourous, then water could get into it and start the breakdown.

Plasti-dip's been used before and is generally considered reef safe.
