I'm trying to grow gsp across the entire back glass of my aquarium, and I figured a good way to make it go faster would be to glue a chunk onto a magnet, place it on the glass until the gsp grows and attaches to the glass, cut then move and repeat.

However, I am unsure if magnets are safe to put in our aquariums, so is it safe or not?

If not, any ideas or suggestions how I may accomplish this? Encase the magnet in silicone maybe?

My idea was to use the frag on the magnet to easily move it around, cutting off frags as it grows onto the glass, helping it spread much faster.

It's pretty small right now, 2"x2" on a disc. I'm just dipping my toes into the vastness that is corals, so I don't really know how much abuse gsp can take. By which I mean scraping it off the plug, chopping it up and gluing it.

GSP is pretty impossible to kill.
