May be stupied question but can you use any type of magnet in you tank? Reason I ask is I have a rock that keeps falling over. And I think I can glue magnet to it and put other on back side of tank

If you use magnets directly in the saltwater, they will corrode and start poisoning your water. If you are using a magnet, it needs to be fully encased to prevent this from happening.

I use 4 or 5 large magnets to support rocks and shelves in my tank, and yes, they are fully encased. They are "Algae-Free Sure Grip 50" magnets. They are large, heavy, but strong. Do not get your fingers between them. I have used them for years with no problems.

You can use ceramic magnets in saltwater, but you will need stronger magnets for the outside of your tank such as neodymium magnets which are not saltwater safe.
