Hi guys. I have a question about my magnificent anemone I recently got. It's not doing so well. It's shrinking and is deflated. I've read that treating it with cipro might help. I bought a 10gal tank with a hang on back filter and 50w heater to use as my hospital tank. I also got picked up a bottle of 250 mg cipro tablets.
My question is would it be fine to put the anemone and the piece of live rock it's attached to in the hospital tank and treat it with cipro? I read that the live rock will soak up the antibiotic but I've tried slowly rubbing my finger on its foot to get it to release but rock has crevices that makes it hard for my fingers to at its foot in places and I don't want to hurt/tear it's foot. Do I up the dose from 250 mg to 500mg to make up for the absorption of the live rock? Or just stick with the original dose of 250 mg per 10 gal and see what happens? Thanks.

I think the "rock with medication" is more for fish qt and copper. I'd much rather you not damage the nem foot than worry about how much cipro will get into the rock. A little more medication is better than not enough, but if you're not quite filling the tank and the rock is taking some water space, the 250mg should be just a tad more than the 9.80G (rough estimate just as an example) of water in the tank. Good luck!!
