Magnificent coming in tomorrow

Curious as to just how much light and flow a mag can handle?

I bought a pedestal center of my tank probably 8-10in from the water line under 8 bulb t5’s with very turbulent flow. I have 2 of the largest ow series power heads on opposite sides at full strength pulse mode or wave 2.

Magnificent anemones love high light and will climb to the top of the rocks to get it, not too sure on flow but have heard they like high flow too, but they definitely need high lights and it sounds like your lights should be sufficient. Is this the Holy Grail ritteri?

I was a bit worried as I had what I believe was an bad outbreak of lyngbya followed by Dino’s. Dino’s are just about done for and lyngbya has completely gone away.
Did something dumb and bottomed out po4 and no3. But everything is back on track.

Mine is constantly trying to get higher and often climbs the back wall and hangs out by the return so they like lots of light and prefer a decent amount of flow, also they prefer to attach to a flat a spot as possible

You want to move the rock away from the back of the tank..... if that nem can touch it...its going to adhere to the glass and move to the top of the aquarium.

That pic is deceiving... believe me it took me a couple tries to keep him from getting to it

Not much of an attraction now but can't wait to see it in the tank I bet it will look beautiful!

Ritteri is the old taxonomic name for the Magnifica. I've long experience with these anemones, and they often come in with bacterial infections that require treatment. An initial slack mouth is pretty normal, it's the inflations/deflation cycles that you need to look for …. or full deflation. Those are sure signs of an infection and faster to treatment means better prognosis.

If you can get them through initial acclimation, and give them high light and flow, they can get HUGE. No need to target feed them either.
