Mail Order Corals

Not sure if this is in the right area, still new to this. I have always purchased from local shops. Since joining R2R I have seen a large amount of beautiful corals. Locally we don't have much to choose from. I have never ordered corals online and wondered if I could get some pointers such as reliability, sites to try and those to stay away from, etc. Any help would be appreciated. I am a bit leary of site unseen costly purchases.

I ordered from members here, and so far I have gotten good results with shipping, there will be time when one or two might not make the acclimation period but the sellers are always willing to make it right.

You will find corals from the vendors on this site that you will find nowhere else. My lfs only keeps ordinary type corals but these vendors have exotic stuff.

I am like you and do not have many options locally. Well, the options I do have are not that great and quite expensive. I have ordered from members on the forum, especially those that have What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) pics. I have also ordered from several of the sponsors here. I even took a big gamble and ordered from Gonzo and got what he terms a Box O' Crap. I paid for the corals and told him I wanted he LPS. That is all I said and in turn he sent me some awesome looking corals. I got two acan mini colonies, a gorgeous lobo, a trachy, a war coral and mini colony of blastos. All were quite healthy. I ordered the Box O' Crap based on the feedback of what other people got and they had positive experiences.

The best piece of advice I can offer is to check out the feedback forums. This can give you some insight as to who you are purchasing from.
