I moved my tank onto new stand, everything was fine, then noticed the big overflow bulkhead has a very small leak. My overflow had been up for a year with no leaks. Is the gasket overtightened. Im afraid to loosen it or tighten. Right now it stoped leaking when the pump is off. Its getting late ive been working on my tank all day. The whole bulkhead is encrusted in those small worms that are calcium based. How should i go on fixing it, im going to wait till morning to see if the leak seals itself

If it is leaking, I would try tightening it slightly.

I don't know what you mean exactly when you say "moved onto a new stand". Does that mean you redid the plumbing, including unscrewing this bulkhead (disassembling) and then reassembling? If so, its possible that there is something in between the rubber gasket and the glass preventing a good seal.

I would turn off the pumps. And give the nut a small sugg. Possibly it just got bumped during the move. Otherwise remove the nut, inspect the gasket between the overflow box and glass, replace if necessary.

I redid the plumbing but just up to unions. Cause one of the two bulkheads was leaking slightly because it loosened when i attached the new plumbing to the union. Ill give a small (1/8in) twist with pliers

Hi,

I have been there, a lot. :(. If it is a very slow drip I would do like you said and leave it until you are fresh in am. Just put a towel and bucket until AM.

In the AM you will need to drain the overflow enough to get the water out and remove the bulkhead. Use a razor to clean the glass and be sure it has no remaining little bits. Rinse the gasket as well with water to be sure it is clean and reseat the gasket and reinstall the bulkhead.

Gave a small turn, am afraid i will have to do that. Right now its not really leaking with the return off: My corals should be fine, the heater w inkbird is in the display. Powerheads running for oxygenation. Skimmer is on to get some circulation in the sump.

Apprently i had the gaskets installed wrong. Eshopps itself has the wrong installation video on its youtube page. I didnt know any better first reef tank. The two gaskets need to be together. Goes inner box w/gasket-glass-gasket-gasket-box-nut. I have it filled halfway, is not leaking. Wish me luck, hope these arent my “famous last words.” No corals are mad all opening up so thats good.

Yup, ran into that myself, the way they tell you to install it is totally wrong. Glad you got it fixed :)

Had a tiny leak, grabbed the wrench and gave a small turn. Been running for 30 mins, think if there was a leak it would have happened by now. Thanks to everyone who helped. Time to fix the rockwork :) and get rid of the rats nest of wires and clean the dust off. Matching plumbing looks so good. Sucks above the unions it isnt matching but who cares

So I’m installing a eshopps, do I need to buy more gaskets?

No, just goes overflow-glass-gasket-gasket-box-nut. I have the eclipse series. To this day i am still scared that it is going to start leaking again and cause me a big headache idk why. But their directions on youtube were wrong.
Edit: the gaskets when you first opened the box were probably stuck together. Make sure everything is clean so it doesnt leak

I’ve read that should be overflow-gasket-glass-gasket- then box . But my Eclipse L came with 1 gasket for each bulkhead ‍♂️

Maybe @Crabs McJones can chime in.

I checked out the brs website and they said
"Installation Tip - When installing the bulkhead gaskets we highly suggest placing one between the inner overflow box and the aquarium. The other gasket should be placed between the external box and the bulkhead nut. "

However,

I found this thread from 2 years ago from that exact same model of overflow.
But i am now curious if i installed it wrong again since i went box-glass-gasket-gasket-box-nut, since in the thread people were saying they went "inside box, gasket, glass, gasket, outside box"
However; the overall consesus seems to be that eshops directions are wrong. Hope this helps
