Maintain Torch Coral Color

Just to name a few brands. I listed a few below. The Brightwell has iron in and I believe the Korallen doesn't. The price ranges differ allot on brands. If you have never replenished them, then you will see immediate results in coral color....within several days. Once you start dosing over a couple weeks you will be amazed of the difference. Its easy to see in any coral IMO. Especially LPS and SPS.

Brightwell
Korallen-Zucht
Tropic Marine
To OP

I feel I have excellent growth and colors, and if it matters, I use the Brightwell Amino Acids and TM All For Reef to replace trace elements

I have nothing to offer OP, but wanted to comment to follow and see the results later. I feel like my torches are happy and growing, but my gold/yellow one lost most of its color and I'm researching.

Gold/yellow - I had same happen. I researched for months. Seems to me it depends on the tank conditions

I have two banana torches, from same seller. I put in different tanks. One has lost some color and developed dark purple undersides of tentacles. I can not figure out the cause. Dealer says “need more food in water column” but no explanation. I broadcast feed 3-5x a week, I use amino 3x a week. I can’t feed any more lol. The other Is just as bright and vibrant as the day I got it. This is a “dirty” tank with an algae outbreak

My grail has lost no color at all. See baby pic from when I first got it

Sounds like that’s exactly what I am needing haha. I will be at my LFS today, if they don’t have any of these I will get one ordered tonight! Any of these three that you’d recommend over the others?

OP. If you decide to start dosing trace elements, keep us posted with pics. Like 3 days later. 1 week and 2 week pictures. Will be fun to watch someone else's corals super color up.
That’s a cool idea, definitely can do that!

I am currently battling dinos and have been dosing phosphate and nitrate. Since that, I have noticed a difference in coloration of my indo gold. My other torches have stayed colorful. I also noticed a difference when I started feeding @Benepets

Any of them will get the job done, but each one usually contain elements that others dont and the prices are wide spread. Brightwell is common, so you might be able to find it at LFS and it has iron in it as others may not. You could start with that just to test the waters.

Someone show how they feed mysis to a torch...I have yet to see any torch eat.

TIA

I broadcast fed some mysis a few days ago and my torch caught some and ate it. I thought of this thread and took a pic

Gently and slowly release above the torches. They grab the food and curl around it and bring it into the mouth 3626CFC4-18A8-4CF8-8863-BCC95D17927E.jpeg BE3B7733-3701-46FF-AC45-5F4BAC9BA86E.jpeg D9DED06C-3386-43F3-900B-959882056312.jpeg 83CE5303-48F3-47C5-AAF1-B5E5C7B2F3B3.jpeg 4BC42AF6-65CB-41E8-84F4-C911953A4EE6.jpeg 90602580-2A82-49FB-80C6-7530E834F8CB.jpeg

Any update? I’ve got a few torches in my DT that don’t look nearly as good as my QT tank. They’re still growing just lost that pop of color. Main differences is I run a whiter spectrum in my DT and use ATI 2 part with trace elements. In my QT I dose ammonia and use all for reef. I have chronically low Alk like 5 in the QT and the torches look amazing in the QT tank. Frustrating!
