Poor Decision Maker
So I recently swapped from 2 part dosing to Kalk for the ph boost, and it's worked wonderfully (been about 1 week so far) - but i feel like i'm dosing a lot more than I should be and still losing ground on maintaining Alk. I'm almost at my evaporation limit and have been manually dosing alk to try and maintain it as well. Not sure if my consumption has shot through the roof due to increase in PH or if there's precipitation or something happening (not really seeing anything i'm aware of)... Looking for a sanity check and suggestions on what to do. Don't really want to stop dosing to see what daily consumption is as it would likely throw everything completely out of whack...
75 gallon display w/ 30gal sump, SPS dominant (mostly few inch frags, but have seen some increased growth recently). Tank is ~ 6 months.
Pre-Kalk (with 2 part and CO2 scrubber)
- dosing ESV 2 part at 30ml/ day
- Alk maintaining ~8.2
- Calc around 440
- Mag around 1450
- pH between 7.9 and 8.1
-Now with Kalk dosing (Avast stirrer & Neptune Dos)
- I'm at about 4L of Kalk in a day - 1500ml while lights off and 2500ml while lights on Dos is basically dosing 40-60 ml every 15 min or so...
- every 10-12 hours it seems i'm supplementing with 2 part when testing tells me my alk has dropped to 7.9 and i dos ~ 12ml to bring it back up to near 8.2
-pH (8.1 to 8.3) (CO2 scrubber still running)
- trying to maintain alk around 8.2 - would like to stay in an 8.0 to 8.4 window if possible
- calc around 420
- mag around 1450
- nitrate ~ 5
- phos ~ 0.05
