Hey fellow fish nerds I have a few questions. I own a waterbox mini 15 g and a evo 13.5. I live in the pacific northwest and I'm dreading the summer and what the heat will do to my tanks. Last summer both tanks ended up in the mid 80's several times. I didn't have the corals that I do now and hope to not repeat this. I have a set of fans I can mount on the side of the tank to blow cold air across the surface but I'm afraid that if left on all day while at work I might over cool it. I'm thinking of getting an air conditioner and just trying to control the temp of my apartment rather than controlling the tanks. Chillers are not an option$$$$$ (not 2 anyways). What are some of the tricks you guys use to maintain a steady temp during the summers??? Thanks for the advice in advance

Two stage inkbird heater controller.

Here’s a cheap Fan that’s attached to my Neptune Apex. Comes on when temps get above 80 degrees. Works very well.

I just ordered an inkbird yesterday, it will work with a fan too?
yes, the inkbird just sends power to either the heater or cooler (fans) when the temperature reaches the threshold so no reason it wouldnt work. Just important to make sure you got the one with both heat and cooling for use with the fan

Cool entire house to 80 or heat to 80 in winter as water is 2 degrees cooler then ambient air temp stager equipment so most of it runs at night when the light is off keeping my tank right at 78 all the time

Backup heater turns on at 76 chiller comes on a 80 brings it back to 78 if the houses thermal system fails

Just keep your home's temp stable. Also, a cold tank isn't nearly as lethal as a hot tank. Corals won't drop dead at 74 degrees, but they might at 84.
