Can someone offer a “best practices” way to handle things like maintenance of probes and accessories without putting a bunch of spurious entries into the logs or recorded values?

The probes always record values based on the Data Log interval setting in the Misc settings screen:

The only option you have is to set the Data Log to a higher value before you begin maintenance, then set it back after you're done. The maximum value is 240 minutes (4 hours) so if your maintenance takes longer than that, your only other option to avoid bogus values in your logs is to turn off the Apex during maintenance.

Suncrest, is there a way to automate the change of that value? I've got a virtual switch that turns everything off when I go to do maintenance and it would be sweet to have that same outlet change this value.

No, none of the Settings screens can be automated. At least not by the Apex itself.

Never knew this after owning the apex for the better part of 10 years. lol Thanks for showing me where to change it.
