Majestic Foxface.

So the other day I bought a majestic Foxface from the LFS. I was told that they prefer the clip on algae. I have been putting up half of a sheet for about four days and he never goes for it. I leave it in the tank just because I was told he can be a real drama queen. And rightfully so.... every time I get close to the tank he goes down and plays dead. Short of putting a camera on him 24/7 I cannot tell if the sheet of algae is decent a grating or he is actually eating it and the leftover is floating in the tank. Anyone have any thoughts.

They can most definitely be drama queens. Mine took a while before eating from the veggie clip also. You could try and wedge some seaweed kind of underneath one of the pvc fittings and see if he’ll eat it like that.

What I am wondering is do the algae/seaweed products that you clip on eventually just turn into floating particles in the water or is the fish doing this?

my one spot foxface never touched nori til i put him in my DT he was really scary for the first 2-3 weeks now he eats the nori as im putting the clip back in the DT doesnt even give me a chance to finish lol

What did you feed him while in the QT?

Mine only eats mysis and reef frenzy fwiw.

Mine goes to town on pellets and mysis. It will eat nori but only after following the Tang posse to it. Clowns and wrasses eat it too. Nori will disintegrate on its own as well. I’d try different stuff, dont worry if it won’t go for nori.

My Majestic took a week to really settle in, but now is always front and center, and eats everything.....Mysis, brine, flakes, and Nori from a clip. He loves nori and will pick at the clip when empty...one of my favorite fish!
