Hey all,
Would love some recommendations to help my beautiful little 3" Majestic.
I purchase him about about 3 weeks ago. He was in at my local fish shop for at least one month. I put him into a QT tank with some PVC elbows for hiding spots.
up until last tuesday/wed he was eating great and coming to the top of the tank to eat. Then I notice he seemed more scared than normal......then he stopped eating, and was hiding more than normal. There are no outward signs of any infection. Fins, eyes, body seem clear, and I dont see him scratching. when I put food in...he looks at it but doesnt eat it. Well, I have seen him eat a few small pcs recently but almost all is left uneaten at the bottom of the tank. Prior he was eating everything in sight.

Purchased on 12/22/2019
Started acting more scared/skittish, but was still eating - 1/4/2020
stopped eating - 1/7/2020
Started CP treatment - 1/10/2020
Seemed less skittish but still not coming out too much - 1/11/2019
Started trying to feed food with metroplex - 1/11/2020 (he did eat but it was very little. the vast majority of the food is to the bottom of the tank and he is leaving it alone.

He was eating - frozen mysis, frozen blood worms, frozen brine, frozen angel formula, nori, spectrum pellets.
Tank = Bare bottom 15 gallon with PVC Elbows for hiding spots
Filter = Aquaclear 70 with seeded Seachem Matrix (seeded from display tank)
Salinity = 1.025
Temp = 77.5~78.0
Ammonia = 0 (I have a seachem badge on the tank)
and have been doing 25% water changes every 5 days (replacement water same salinity and temp)

I am wondering if maybe the CP is the wrong thing to start with considering the above description. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for your help

Have you switched brands? I've had fish stop eating mysis when switching from PE to Hikari and vice versa. Try soaking the foods in Selcon, garlic, etc.?

Thanks for the reply Jefra.....i did not change brands......he is not eating any of the foods i am offering.......

Any other ideas?

Could i have unknowingly infected the fish by feeding frozen bloodworms?????

Just in case anyone was interested....the CP seems to be working...I am dosing 45mg/gal did that once, and now adding 4mg/gal every day to account for biodegradation. i am also doing a 5gal water change every other day with fresh salt water with the CP added to it at 45mg/gal.

Since he is eating again, I am also feeding him with food which has been soaked in metroplex/focus.

Seems like you're doing everything right. May be internal parasites. My recommendation would to be try some live black worms if possible and possibly an angel fish food blend. Run him in CP for 15 days then transfer to a new QT unmedicated at least 15 ft away.

Thanks for the reply Cment. I think you are right about the internal parasites. I saw what I assumed was poop on the bottom of the tank today (white, and long and thin like a string)........I am feeding food mixed with metroplex/focus, but I just recently noticed Humblefish feeds General Cure (which includes both metro and Prazi) so it should treat both intestinal worms and internal parasites. I think i am going to switch from Metroplex to General Cure tomorrow.....just to be safe.....but will continue the CP for the 15 days.

I dont have another QT tank but I'm thinking I will remove the fish, and will quickly clean the tank and all equipment (heater, Aquaclear, PVC, etc) in a bleach solution in the tub, and completely rinse and set it up as a new tank.....Of course I will also discard the existing filter media.

That brings me to something I have been thinking about. In my display I have 2 clowns that are about 6yrs old, and 4 anthias about 4 months. My previous QT procedure was simply observation for 6 weeks in a separate tank, then if no problems they went into my display. In the sump of my Display tank, I put bags of Matrix to seed them in anticipation of using them for QT'ing a new fish. Im wondering if I am unkowingly infecting my QT system with the matrix which came from my display sump. Maybe I should be feeding the general cure to my anthias and Clowns as well....just in case.....

My conspicuous has stopped eating after a year or so of all good and eating.. will not eat.. looks like he wants to but just looks at the food and does nothing. How did your end up..
