Well I have been lurking on the site for about 6 months with not much to say. I have be contemplating setting up a nano for myself for sometime now. I am going to try to do a thrifty build with most of the stuff already owned. I have a marineland 10 gallon that I am going to drill and build an over flow for. I have an all in one sump, skimmer and return pump. Then I'm going to buy a nightstand off craigslist for 20$. I have an extra 120w 2:1 led laying around that I am going to use. I have some south down sand and live rock curing in the sump of my 300. Most if not all of the coral will come from my 300 and my own frag tank or local reefers.

Options I'm still contemplating is making the tank rimless. Guess that depends if I have to go by a new tank after trying to drill. I will include pictures of the stuff I start with.

Woot welcome to the NANO partay!

Great start. Looking forward to watching your progress.

Lookin' good!! Can't wait to see the progress!!

Heck ya bro sweet!!!! I'm excited for you! How come you didn't mention it lol.

Lol spur of the moment. I took inventory and weighed it out to see how much I would spend. Shooting for $200 or less out of pocket to me for equipment live stock and corals. So we will see!

So I am getting pm's about growth in my 300's sump lol. I am curing the rock that I am going to use in my sump. I want a Mandarin in my nano and I need a good pod base. Also I would like near zero cycle time.

If I am breaking a rule let me know, but I don't even have the tank set up so I can't be growing anything but pods and coraline in my sump.

I don't think you're breaking any rules. Just make sure the rocks are free of critters and corals before they go into the nano. :)

That's definitely a nano on a budget!

Nice progress and you are fine curing your rock in your sump.
