I’m new to this website.do you know how to tell if they’re male or female ?
Welcome to R2R! Google would be the best place to start.

(EDIT) Not trying to be mean. Just would have better access to photos instantly.

Help I have 4 triggers 1 clown, 1 blue line , 1 niger red tooth,1 humuhumu . But how do I know if they’re a male or female

Don't know about the other ones, but the only way to know if a clown is a male or female is if it is paired. The female will be the dominant one and usually bigger. If its large and by itself, its most likely a female. Don't put two females in the same tank. They will fight to the death. If unsure, don't chance it unless you are prepared to separate them. Two babies are fine (less than 2 inches or so). The more dominant one will transition to female when they pair. This is irreversible. They cant go from male to female but not the other way around once fully transitioned.

I don't know If you should ask them how they identify because the question might trigger them. Best if you just let them sort that out for themselves. As someone already mentioned it is 2021. :)
Welcome to Reef2Reef!

oh hell no GIF

Yes, I see but as stated if two females are in the same tank it can be deadly! Just trying to avoid having dead fish

With these particular- you know when they pair off, and it will be of same genus, not opposite type. Blue throats are the easiest to tell. Males generally brighter.

I see what you did there.

Wouldn't the two females have to be of the same species to create the tension and hostility? I would think that as your triggers age they will eventually all be alpha females? Or will one of your fish become female and the rest be conspecific males? I'm certainly not a trigger fish expert by any measure, but I just finished my yearly gender sensitivity training at work and I thought it was best to let each individual to decide how they approach their own sexual identity?

Disregard my last. I thought you were talking about trigger fish and clown fish. I see you meant a Clown Triger. Lol.

I agree, fish can do as they please. I’m just curious to know when they decide ☺️

Talking specifically about clowns.

How long have these fish been together?
How big is the tank?

Monitor for aggressive behavior
If none
Don’t worry about if they are male of female
