reef a palooza is coming up in two weeks.
I am due to stop medicating my tank (no coral right now) that same weekend.

Figure once I start taking copper out, it’s will be a few days . (Going to do massive water changes and run carbon heavy until it tests 0)

I would like to get a few drags that weekend, but will be taking copper out . Can I set up a 10 gallon tank, heater, pump, and cheap led light for a few days until take is absent of copper?

Won’t have any bio filter, but it would be just frags, no fish, nothing to feed. Figure they would be in there roughly 4-5 days

Thanks

Cuprisorb works better than carbon. But big water changes make the most efficient reducing move initially. Cuprisorb works great to finish off the copper. And you can reuse/recharge it with regular muriatic acid and use it over and over again.
Best to sterilize the tank and wash with vinegar to precipitate the copper remaining into a harmless form.
Sure the 10 gal setup will work. Just be mindful that freshly mixed saltwater can be a bit harsh on fish, corals, inverts. Best to have it run for a few days and run a dose of Biospira in there to help the biofilm on the corals adapt better to their new environment.

Thank you. This is the display tank with copper in it. No inverts or corals at the moment.

50 gallons tank. Fish only atm, I can do a few 30 gallon water changes, and run cuprisorn and poly pad to mop out the rest. Won’t be able to vinegar it

If there is rock in the tank and you dosed copper that rock will leach copper back into the water. The rule is you do not treat a main reef display and if copper was ever used on any rock its longer reef safe.

Umm we shall agree to disagree.

I know of dozens of reef tanks that were once fish only tanks with rock treated with copper.

That is a myth on all accounts, just like when people thought the silicon would absorb copper as well.
