With all the new products that are being introduced for todays saltwater aquariums I am amazed that there are no other options available to make power heads blend in other than the Tunze rock covers? We spend so much time getting the aquascape and coral placement perfect and then you have these power heads that always looked to me like they were an after though.

I took some smaller pieces of live rock and cut them in half to save weight and made a structure to cover a power head but the power head can be removed to be cleaned and there is no obstruction on the inlet of water or on the outlet. If you look at the center of the attached picture the coral structure on the back wall is my power head cover.

This ended up being a a very time consuming project and I was just wondering if anyone else has had the same thoughts or have found an easier solution for making your power heads blend in and become not so noticeable. Thanks

While the trend to display the motor on the outside of the tank has always seemed strange, I try not to obsess about this issue in general. But then I can remember the pre-powerhead days so I still see all powerheads as a blessing. :D

When it does matter, I generally just try to keep powerhead placement low in the tank so they can remain out of view but still function. Easier with some brands than others.

I have never done a "cover up" like you – way cool! :)
